Contractors from both frameworks were present at today’s Marketplace event to highlight the cohesive opportunities available through empa in the building of facilities in sectors such as education, sport and leisure. The contractors exhibited alongside the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA), Business Link, the East Midlands Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (EM IEP) and the East Midlands Centre for the Built Environment (EM CBE).
In addition to the following items, CPD (continuing professional development) seminars were held by Kier, Wates and Willmott Dixon on issues of waste management, community investment and employability, and environmental sustainability.
Alan Coole, Development Manager for Scape, the managing agent for empa, said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce the completion of the selection process and appointment of contractors to the empa Minor Works Framework. This is the second building block to be put into place to help local authorities and other public bodies introduce best practice and help develop the capacity of local companies in delivering high quality, cost effective building works in their communities.
“Today’s event has been a great opportunity to showcase the unified and value approach we can offer.”
The successful contractors are Ashe Construction Ltd (Alfreton), G F Tomlinson Group (Derby), Herbert Baggaley Construction (Mansfield), Interserve Project Services (Thurmaston), J Tomlinson (Beeston), Jeakins Weir (Corby), Langwith Builders (Holbeach), Lindum Group (Lincoln), Mansell Construction Services (Lenton), Morgan Ashurst (Nottingham) and Robert Woodhead (Newark).
empa also took the opportunity to launch its Supply Chain Registration Portal, an innovative online registration vehicle that will allow sub contractors from across the whole of the East Midlands area to register interest in becoming suppliers to the empa frameworks. This valuable tool will develop local and regional supply chains, improve procurement efficiency and lead to the reduction in the overall cost of procurement services.
